Welcome to Mount Mitchell Cafe & Eatery!
Mount Mitchell Café & Eatery is thrilled to announce our reopening after rebuilding from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Though our café sustained severe damage, the strength of our team—and the incredible support around us—made recovery possible.
We offer our deepest thanks to law enforcement, first responders, park personnel, and emergency crews for their tireless efforts, courage, and dedication during and after the storm. We are also profoundly grateful to our community for the kindness, encouragement, and support that carried us through this journey.
We are proud to reopen the Cafe in May 2026, serving Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and can’t wait to welcome you back to share good food and familiar faces once again.
The Summit Snack Shack will be open Monday-Sunday, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, daily.

OUR STORY BEGINS WITH YOU
Located in Yancey County, 30 miles northeast of Asheville, Mount Mitchell State Park was the genesis of North Carolina's state parks system. At 6,684 feet, the mountain is the highest point east of the Mississippi River, and an observation deck provides breathtaking mountain views on a clear day. Starting again, after Hurricane Helene, Mt. Mitchell Cafe & Eatery will be open to serve you exquisite views and comfort dining options, including gourmet salads, elevated sandwiches, and more.

Our team at Mount Mitchell Cafe & Eatery is made up of experienced foodies and friendly staff who are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for all of our dining guests.
OUR INGREDIENTS
Hand-crafted sandwiches, salads, soups, and more are elevated and served with mountain-top views. Using only the freshest ingredients, we are dedicated to crafting each plate with purpose and passion. We are proud to partner with local vendors, serving you high-quality ingredients including antibiotic-free, non-GMO proteins, local produce, artisan breads, and more.
OUR SERVICE
We’re a fast‑casual, hospitality‑focused café. Orders are placed at our self‑service kiosk, allowing our team to focus on quality food and a welcoming dining experience with limited table service.
No reservations are required. We offer first-come, first-served seating. For groups of 20+, please submit your group inquiry here.
For guests with fur babies, we offer outdoor patio seating in Adirondack chairs. We encourage guests with pets to order takeout and enjoy the beautiful views on the patio.
